Men with wood for open-air cathedral at Barambah c1929
“A word must be said concerning the new shelter in which the Sunday school and afternoon meetings are held. The Christian men resolutely set to work one day and demolished the old structure. New posts and new bushes were cut down and carted in from the scrub, and with a spirit of determination the men of their own accord they placed in position an ideal platform from which the speakers may deliver their messages. The Christians are very pleased with their new church, and rightly so, for it is the result of a splendid effort and worthy
of great praise. It was their token of love to their Lord.” – E W Brainwood, Our Aim: A Monthly Record of the Aborigines’ Inland Mission of Australia, 23 May 1929.
