School children receiving morning tea at Cherbourg State School 1959
Morning tea or little lunch is given out at 10.30 — a small bottle of milk, fruit and piece of cake. The cost of the fruit is deducted from the mother’s child endowment (Family Allowance Supplement). The cake, made by the women in the kitchen of the Girls Dormitory, is packed into a butter box and delivered by wheel barrow to the school.
