Relics of Convict Discipline 1824

1824 – a convict settlement is set up at Redcliffe but moved to present day Brisbane three months later.
The settlement does not extend beyond the Brisbane Valley.

1839 – the colony is opened for settlement. Land hungry pastoralists and squatters move into the newly opened territories.
Aboriginal peoples experience wide scale invasion of their lands.
